Top: Egyptian Mule. Bottom: Assyrian Mule. Heb. PeReD, PeReDaH. ReKeSh is also translated `mule` but was probably a swift camel. Bred from a horse and an ass. The Law prohibited hybridization (Lev.19.19) so mules had to be imported.
